Sisters are forever friends

This was probably one of my favorite sessions... Not just because it was my first time shooting in YBOR, which is a photographers paradise! No, this was one of my favorites because of who I was photographing! My forever friend Heather and her gorgeous sister Justine! They are so much alike but so different at the same time. I love these girls.

Heather and I met in 1983. ;) If I wasn't at my house when I was a child I was at hers, or down the road at "the sandlot." The movie "The Sandlot" was an obsession of ours. We named this over-grown drainage ditch thing, with a little path to a palm tree in the middle, "the sandlot." Thats where we would hangout. There wasn't even anything to do there but we would walk the 10 miles to get there. It was really like 1/2 a mile but it seemed much further away. Its funny how the world seems so big when your small.
So when Heather contacted me to do a sister session for her and Justine, I was sooo excited!! I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking and editing them!

Boudoir - 18+ please

I have always loved fashion photography so, I broke free from the children and family portraits I usually do and ventured into more of a model/fashion session... I have to say I LOVED IT! Don't get me wrong I still love taking photos of children and families!! Sooo... here is my gorgeous friend, Farrah! She was my guinea pig today!
We did this little shoot as an experiment. I wanted to see if I even wanted to venture into this kind of photography... and while we were at it she was getting some cute photos for her man for valentines day!

She is one hot momma, right?? You can expect more photography like this coming from J. Bell...

Sweet Kendyl - Newborn

Everyone meet Kendyl... beautiful, beautiful Kendyl! She is a doll isn't she? Kendyl was born December 7th, 2011. She was the first newborn I have ever had the privilege to photograph! I can't lie and say I wasn't nervous. It's even scary holding your own newborn for the first time!
It definitely was a great learning experience. I thank Kristen and Jeff for trusting me with their little angel and taking up 6 hours of their time... yes I said 6 (separated into 2 days)! Ok, It doesn't take a seasoned photographer that long... hey, I am new to this! Day 1 I was most nervous but I know what to do next time, I learned a couple little tricks and day 2 Kendyl slept great, thanks to advice from a group of fellow lady photogs! So here are my most favorite photos that came out of my session.
Really, any photo Kendyl is the model in is absolutely adorable! So Mary, to answer your question... No, Kendyl was not my first and last, ha ha :) I loved photographing her! The best part of photography is the end result - seeing the photographs finished and hearing how much my client loves them. That's the most rewarding part of being a photographer.

My first post!

This is me. I am a photographer. I love everything about photography, even the hours upon hours of editing that is involved. I love to capture, preserve, look, feel, cherish, imagine, dream, know, make, admire, and learn photography. Believe me I could fill this whole page up and more with words that describe my love for photography. It all comes down to this... its who I am.

Since I can remember, I wanted to be a photographer. It started with sports photography and then when my camera discovered how beautifully photogenic my sister was my photo horizon grew a little wider.

So many many years and college majors later... I am a photographer. I own (Whoa...OWN!!) J. Bell Photography.

What is J. Bell, you may ask? I named my company after the love of my life, my sunshine, my everything... My daughter Joslyn Bellamy. She brought on the spark I needed to start J. Bell. She is my inspiration.

This is just the beginning to something I dreamed of many, many years ago. The sky is the limit and I am so very thankful to my friends and family that have supported me the last couple of months. All your facebook "likes" and comments mean the world to me and make me strive to be better, to be the best photographer I can be! Most of all, I thank God for this gift and for giving me such a passion to pursue it and Him.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
